Is it Getting Cool in Here, Or is it Just Me?

Uncool is CoolSo we got on a cleaning kick last night. We plowed through our CD’s and cassettes (Yes, we still had some of those around!) But before giving away some of these beauties, I’m putting them on my computer so I can still listen to a few favourites of a decade (and century) gone by.

Today, I’m loading them up… and it struck me…

This song USED to be awesome! Something has moved. I’m pretty sure the signal of that disc is burned in with a laser, so it’s not that. So either I got less cool or that music lost a step. Let’s not debate that question here, shall we?

So come on. Let’s open up. Who made your list of “used to sound cool” music recently?

Mine: A great band named Plankeye, whose albums grabbed me by the throat in my college years. Today? I can likely pass these blessings on to someone else.

CFL Blessing

Another season is upon us, and you already know it’s going to be a good one…

  • Friday night’s game was played during a period of blue skies, minimal wind, and comfortable temperatures… all this after half a week of rain and cold. As happy fans slept Friday night, the rains fell again. A sign of blessing? I say YAY.
  • A win is never hard to take, even in pre-season. Does it count? Not really. But it DOES say that we’ve got some great young guys fighting for jobs, and this team should be hungry this year. It’s not every champion that can say that in the year after winning it all. I say YAY.
  • Nobody got injured. I say YAY.
  • Nobody played himself off the team YET, and a number of newcomers came out with good showings. Among the best have to be Stu Foord, Denetay Heard, Adarius Bowman, and Steven Jyles. And there were more good showings than that! Yay.

Will we repeat this year? A TAD early to say. Will the season be a good ride? I’d say the chances are pretty good. Buckle in and get ready–GO GREEN

On a side note…

If you’re a Rider fan who’s always looking for just a bit more, let me HIGHLY recommend paying $25 and joining Riderville.com.  The discussion forum alone is WELL worth the money.  GM Tillman is a fairly regular poster, and often questions are addressed directly by him.  Fascinating stuff at times!

Got Nothing

This sums up my blogging as of late.  No apologies; I’m just in that place.

Over and out…

In the Club

I’ve been accepted as the most recent member of the “I’m sure I used to be in good shape” club.  It’s a quickly growing club, if you weren’t already aware of it.

Right on the heels of that honour, I joined the “time to fight for what I’ve still got” club.

My day off afforded me the chance for a short workout and my first outdoor jog of the year (YAY!).  The feelings associated with both were my confirmation letters to the aforementioned clubs.

Jet Lag

Sleeping DogOn our way home, we had the honour of doing Monday twice. When we finally called it a day, we did so in that collapse-into-your-own-bed-after-a-long-holiday kind of way.

Now 4 AM, and I’m apparently passed that phase… or so far back in it that I can’t get out. Either way, my lovely wife seems to have escaped the “lag”, so that’s a good thing.

To my friends on the same half of the planet as me… I hope you don’t read these words for many hours yet!
