Life with the Irish

HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY!

Having married into a proudly Irish family, March 17 is marked more boldly on our calendar than on the average one.  I threw on a Roughriders t-shirt today to enter immunity from the “pinch the guy who’s not wearing green” rule, I’ve listened to “Danny Boy” a couple times before lunch already, and the shamrocks are happily blooming in the sunroom.

I mean how can you not love a day rooted in the land that gave us the Irish Tenors, the Irish Rovers (“could’ve been a party”), Irish Setters, four-leaf clovers, Lucky Charms cereal, stones to be kissed, potatos to be fried, snakes to be serenaded, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Farrell, Kathy Ireland, the Corrs, Liam Neeson, Enya, Boyzone (Ireland’s national boy-band), Bono and U2, and “Waking Ned Devine”?!

Ireland… today we salute you.

On a March Madness note… (Yes, I realize the cartoon below is not basketball–but thanks for checking.)

The Notre Dame Fightin’ Irish have once again fizzled out before St. Patty’s Day even arrived.  I fully agree that the Irish are feisty (some might say “rammy”), but that team should probably change its name already.

Funny Animals

Like funny animals?

Here’s some good ones, set to some poor techno music…

Most wildlife control companies offer select services for the control of unwanted animals, here are the findings on the most dangerous animals. The Critter Squad Inc. Services include everything from humane trapping, to exclusion services and damage repairs. Once animals have been removed from a home or attic, the home must have animal proofing done to prevent future entry.

As it Was Meant to be Played

SUNS

VS

MAVS

The two best teams in the NBA (by a mile) showed how to play last night. Big shot after big shot, Steve Nash sends it to OT with a three, then Terry sends it to 2OT with another three. In the end, 129-127 for Nash and the Suns… wow!

Now THAT is basketball!

What a kickoff for March Madness!

Weather Report

This week has been just like Spring.  Snow was melting, water was running, grass was visible all over.

This morning, the radio gave a winter storm warning.  I laughed, “Are they looking outside?”

Well, now I’m looking outside.  And it looks like this…

I heard honking in the sky this afternoon, just as the snow was starting.  Two geese were flying back for Spring.  I honestly heard one of them say to the other, “What the heck?!”  I HEARD them.

And I wondered the same thing.

Saskatchewan Weather, we salute you!
