“Whatever this guy is getting paid, it’s not enough!”
That is a blatant thievery from Benji and Ev. And truer words were never written. This has nearly put my wife on the floor with laughter, so I’m simply spreading the head-shaking joy…

Stamps win.
That’s a pity.
Bring on next season.
If Calgary wins the Grey Cup tomorrow, it’s going to feel like the longest off-season in recent memory for the rest of the world.
If Montreal wins, it’s going to feel like that to the yacky bunch that call themselves the Stampeders.
With some of that cash he’s making, Sir Henry should really go out and rent a movie. Two recommendations: Bambi (take special note of all words spoken to Thumper) or Hancock (because THAT overhaul-your-image-P.R. guy might be handy to meet).
There’s no denying he’s got talent. In fact, he’s got enough to be one of the CFL greats. But there’s more to being a star than just talent. Anthony Calvillo and his Als have shown nothing but class. Henry and his boys seem to be capable of only pulling off three of those five letters.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are honouring Wendell Clark tonight, and I’m using this as my chance to say that this guy was always one of my favourite players. I once made an “I-know-I’m-a-sucker” hockey card deal because the bait on the other end was Wendell’s $4 rookie card… which I still own!
Seriously, this guy was the total package for a hockey player, so Wendell, I salute you, you Saskatchewan boy, you!
A few highlights from this video…
2:16 – This is still one of the most solid hits I’ve ever seen.
3:16 – This looks like UFC and is but one example of why I believe that the only guys who ever “dropped them” with Wendell were guys who SHOULD HAVE been on medication of some sort. There’s just no way…
3:39 – One shot.
4:09 – Wendell was great, but maybe not quite… you know.
I recently listened to a verse being read. It was from Matthew 5, and I confess that I cannot find what translation it’s from… certainly not any that I’m familiar with, if a well-known translation at all.
It went like this…
“Happy are the clear in heart, for they shall see God.”
For some reason, the word “clear” set off a whole series of new thoughts.
What would a clear heart be like? Like crystal. Not clouded or cluttered. Some sense of transparency would be there. An old book by Kierkegaard is titled “Purity of Heart is to Will One Thing”, and that came to mind too. A clear heart wouldn’t be fragmented or divided in its affections. Its focus would be… well… clear.
I used to take this verse as a promise of heaven in “the after” sense of life. But I’m not sure that’s the point.
A clear heart, a pure heart, a heart that wills one thing…
Someone possessing such a heart WOULD see God. He would be felt and sensed and known in ways that others wouldn’t and couldn’t experience. I used to think these words were a promise; I now wonder if they’re not simply a statement of fact.
If so, then indeed the clear of heart ARE happy.
And I’m feeling a stronger desire than usual to get in on some of that happiness.
So lead us there, Lord…
