Sacred Rhythms (19/30)

Here’s my latest book to pick up.  I’m only two chapters in, and I can already categorize it.

It’s one of those “the timing of my life is such that this just might be the book I needed to find” books.  In case you can’t read it on the cover, the subtitle is, “Arranging Our Lives for Spiritual Transformation”.

Beautiful words about beautiful living.

I can guarantee that a post or two to come will contain quotes and thoughts from this book.

But for now, I’m off to celebrate the coming Year of the Rat!

Day Off (18/30)

Well, it hasn’t looked exactly like THAT, but today is a free day for our whole household… and we’ve been waiting for it!

You know those stretches of days where the pace picks up, time seems to be constantly too little, lists get longer, unforeseen circumstances pop up (usually in bunches), and the whole little cycle just gets spinning faster and faster…

That was the ride… and it was time to get off!

So here we sit for a day: On solid ground, unplugging a bit, slowing down as much as possible.

Sure, I’d take that beach chair, but I’m pretty grateful for what I’ve got right at this moment.

All the best to you today…

Game Time (17/30)

A few reasons why today’s Super Bowl match-up really intrigues me…

1) If the Patriots go 19-0, this game will be forever remembered by football fans.

2) If the Giants drop the Patriots to 18-1, this game will be forever remembered by football fans.

3) That final game of the regular season (New England won 38-35) showed that the Giants can play with anyone. Most would argue that the Giants had much less to play for on that day than the Patriots did, and yet there they were… on the verge of winning. If this were any other team against New England, I’d see the Patriots winning cleanly. But nothing is clean with the Giants–they fight tooth and nail for every inch.

Enough analysis. Two weeks of coverage on ANY game is overkill.

Kick the ball already!

Vision of You (16/30)

This Shane & Shane song has got my ear and more.

The video below doesn’t sound just like the recorded version, but it’s close enough to give you the idea.  Further below are the lyrics.

Come meet us, King Jesus.
Oh wind of change, blow through this temple.
Sweet Spirit of God, come and mend our hearts,
For all we have are songs unless You come.

Awaken what’s inside of me.
Tune my heart to all You are in me.
Even though You’re here, God come.
And may the vision of You be the death of me.
And even though you’ve given everything,
Jesus come.

Come free us, King Jesus
It’s the only way that freedom’s given
From You and You alone, in the work You’ve already done
For all we have are songs, unless You come.

Here we are, Lord, in this place,
Crying out for Your embrace,
To hear Your voice, more than songs,
Please come.
Jesus come.

Jackpot (15/30)

As I was finishing lunch today, my lovely wife told me that there was an opened box of Toffifee chocolates in the cupboard with only one left inside.

I’d never heard such craziness.  Absolute nonsense!

And someone had to put to an end to it.

Now.

Just for some context…

I’m of the mindset that Toffifee was dropped directly from heaven on to the earth.  It was given as a sort of “seal”… you know, a sign of the good things yet to come!

Anyway, I opened the box with my eyes tuned to finding that lone treasure as quickly as possible.  Imagine my delight to see that this solo was actually a duet!

So with a high-five, I declared…

JACKPOT!

CHA-CHING!
