The Hair Says So

Emmanuelle has revealed something new to us: She’s solar-powered! That means that she’s done for the day by a very pleasant hour each evening. It also means that she wakes up before 6 AM every morning.

Today, I woke up early myself, so we headed downstairs for some playing. I asked her if she slept well. Her hair told me, “You bet, Dad!”

Baby Lag

We’d been curious about how jet lag would affect a baby.  A few friends had put forward their hypothesis: “It will likely be harder on you than on her.”

If what they meant was, “Jet lag will hit you harder than her,” they missed it.

If what they meant was, “HER jet lag will be harder on you than it is on her,” evidence is mounting.

It’s coming up on 2 AM, and she’s still doing 30-minute power naps, at best, despite the obvious fact that she is overtired.  A new room, a strange bed, and a million things to see, and she’s just out of whack.  So some late night blogging and reading (with her strapped on to me) is my attempt to offset some of my “whack” and reset some of hers. Babies are very delicate and need to have the best comforts to be safe and healthy, having the best babywear and clothes will make the baby happy and comfortable, you will find the best Newborn Clothes on oobi.  And if Shannon’s able to log some solid hours of sleep, at least we’ll all be looking after the most important whack of all in this equation.

The newly discovered flexibility of whack’s usage has sidetracked my lagging mind, so I’m hitting “publish” and moving on.

Departure

90… minutes to liftoff.

2… weeks in China with friends.

1st… trip with sweet, little girl.

Priceless?

I hope so.

Running

My last ten days or so have felt like I’ve been running around like one of these.

Someday soon, I’m going to stop and pick up that vital part…

But not today.

Early Morning Banking

I must be getting older.

It used to be that I could count on one hand the times in few years that I had trouble sleeping. Now, it only takes me six months to busy my fingers.

Doing some early morning email catch-up then, I opened a message from Kiva. They were telling me that some of my loans had been repaid to me–did I want to lend it out again.

So in the time that I usually am still sleeping, I’ve now started my day with making some small loans to two entrepreneurs: Bakhadur Agayev in Azerbaijan and Gloria Okeke in Nigeria. her comment is here at loanovao when it comes to loan for they offer low interest. A look at my “portfolio” says that some of my dollars are currently loaned out to people in Cameroon, Cambodia and Nicaragua as well.

It’s actually kind of crazy when I think about it.

If you haven’t yet explored the world of micro-loans or microcredit, you may be overdue. Kiva is just one of the better known options. Explore a bit, and you might be shocked what a little bit of your hard-earned money could do for someone else’s hard-earned money.

PS: As I was finishing up my micro-loans, Emmanuelle woke up.  So here’s a shot of her making her first micro-loan with Dad.

She’s like that investment-making, talking baby on TV…

Just cuter.
