Heading Out

China…

I fly tomorrow.  My lovely wife is already there, half-way into a medical mission that she’s a part of.  I’ll meet up with her just in time to travel and visit old friends for a couple weeks before getting back here by the end of the month.

It still feels a bit surreal, and no… my bags aren’t packed yet.

So this post is done.

Catch you in the Middle Kingdom!

Words by Scott Pollard

After making one of the biggest trades in NBA history by acquring Kevin Garnett, the Boston Celtics had a roster of three all-stars with few to no solid role players. That was addressed this week as Eddie House and Scott Pollard were added.  Here’s what I love about Pollard, who averaged 1 point and 1.3 rebounds a game last year… these are his words from his press conference…

“Getting Kevin Garnett has been kind of a big deal. But now that us two are here, you really have a chance,” Pollard joked on Thursday at news conference. “I’m excited to be the cornerstone of this team.”

Classic!

My wife is going… sooner.

August is here… in 15 minutes.

Blogging has been cast to the side… for now.

Christian Hedonism

That’s the catch-phrase coined by John Piper in his book “Desiring God”.

I remember hearing it for the first time and being certain that I must have misheard something.  How could those two words even go together?!

But as I listened and read, I recognized that a HUGE truth was contained within this phrase, a truth that I’d never really heard before, and a truth tied up in everything that is “the glory of God”.

Care to hear more?

Here’s a brief summary of the idea from Piper’s fantastic website: DesiringGod.org.

One Year

A lot can happen in that time!

We’ve been thinking that lately as our home-for-one-year dates have come and gone this summer.

But we’re not the only ones.

My childhood friend Stephen has a significant entry of reflection back on the year that was, in his family.
